On Friday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met H.E. Mr. Judiya Z. Alhathal, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Ukraine.  

 

Mr V.Lytvyn stated that Ukraine highly appreciated the regional importance of Saudi Arabia. He declared that our country attached great importance to the development of bilateral relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 

The Head of the Parliament appreciated the level of the bilateral political dialogue. He expects the ‘new standards´ in the relations to be adopted. He also guaranteed that The Verkhovna Rada would offer legislative support to the further development of bilateral relations.

 

Mr V.Lytvyn called for giving impetus to the inter-parliamentary cooperation, and invited the Speaker of the Consultative Assembly of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to visit Ukraine.

 

Among the areas of promising cooperation, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine singled out trade-economic and energy sectors, aerospace industry, agriculture, humanitarian and cultural spheres, education and student exchange. V.Lytvyn also mentioned participation of Saudi Arabia in the organization of EURO-2012 football championship in part of infrastructure and hotel industry development.  

 

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary declared that Saudi Arabia was interested in the comprehensive development of relations with Ukraine. He called for strengthening inter-parliamentary liaison. "The leaders of our states are willing to give impetus to the bilateral relations," Mr. Judiya Z. Alhathal stated. He also informed about the planned conclusion of several inter-branch agreements on the development of bilateral cooperation.

 

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary extended greetings of the Speaker of the Consultative Assembly to Mr V.Lytvyn. He also conveyed condolences in connection with a tragedy in Nikopol district in Dnipropetrovsk region.
